BEEBE, Ark. (AP) - Hundreds of people waving American flags turned out for the funeral procession of a U.S. Army soldier who was killed in action in Afghanistan.
Services were held Saturday in Beebe for 24-year-old Sgt. Jason Michael Swindle.
The Department of Defense says Swindle died Sept. 20 from injuries suffered when he was hit by enemy small arms fire in Afghanistan.
Swindle was assigned to 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division based at Fort Stewart, Ga.
