(WMC-TV) – Friends, family, classmates, loved ones, and community leaders packed the Brighton High School Gymnasium to pay their last respects to James Jones, Jr. who many say was an inspiring person.
Through song, scripture, and prayer, it was a chance for the group to honor the 18-year-olds memory.
Jones' cousin Daniel Farrow, 21, is charged with Jones death.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says he shot Jones in the head, placed him the passenger seat of Jones car, and then dumped his body in a field just off of Lindsey road. He then abandoned the car.
We're told the two were distant cousins by marriage, grew up together and were neighbors. Those who attended today's service say they will always remember Jones' positive attitude and kindness.
"He was a good kid," remembered relative Bertha Boyd. "Very respectful," she added.
"We're going to miss him...He was a good kid," stated family friend Hosea Davis.
While there are still a lot of unanswered questions surrounding Jones' death. Many are hoping that his passing serves as a wake-up call to end the violence.
Farrow will face a judge tomorrow on first degree murder charges.
