(WMC-TV) - Smoke filled the air after a fire sparked at a Memphis beauty shop Wednesday morning.
The fire started in the back of the salon that once served as an ordinary house on Decatur Street.
No one was inside the business at the time of the fire, but the next door neighbors were woken up by a pounding on the door.
"It was the LeBonheur security guard. He telling us to get out the house," said Terrance Ware. "Then I gotta take my grandma to the bathroom because she gotta use the bathroom. So I'm rushing. I'm like, 'C'mon grandma.' I'm hollering at her, 'C'mon, you gotta hurry up and use the bathroom.'"
Investigators say someone set the fire on purpose. The building was destroyed and the business is closed indefinitely.
Action News 5 spoke with the owner of the beauty salon, but she declined to interview on camera. She said the suspects are the same people who broke her windows last week.
The neighbors who were hurried from their home were relieved that the fire did not spread.
