(WMC-TV) – The death of a woman found inside her burning home has been ruled a homicide. And now, the victim's son, Alexandre Kim, has been charged with first degree murder in connection with her death. Today, he is set to go before a judge.
The Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office said the woman who was found after fire crews put out at fire at her home on Higdon Cove died of blunt force trauma and strangulation before the fire was set.
Fire crews responded to the call in Cordova at 5 p.m. Sunday. They found the woman's body after the fire had been put out.
"She moved out, like, a few months ago. Cams back like a couple months later to get her stuff and then she came back a couple days ago and when she came back he left right out tbs house and that's when it caught fire," said neighbor Darius Jones.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
