(WMC-TV) – A Memphis police officer is recovering after a crash during Tuesday morning's rush hour.
The crash happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 40.
According to the Memphis Police Department, the officer lost control of his patrol car and crashed into a ditch.
The crash happened just as the busy traffic commute was coming to an end.
Traffic was backed up for over an hour but police, fire, and TDOT crews were on the scene to get traffic through.
The officer was taken to Methodist University Hospital in non-critical condition.
