(WMC-TV) - Hiring is underway for Electrolux, and applicants must go through the Memphis-area Career Center.
The Center's Workforce Investment Network (WIN) is charged with recruiting and screening all applicants for entry level positions at the new facility.
This month, the network will start referring eligible job seekers to an Industrial Readiness Training program. The program is designed for individuals interested in working at the new Electrolux manufacturing facility.
The facility is set to have a full workforce in May of next year. And when Electrolux reaches full production levels over the next five years, managers expect to employ more than 1,200 employees.
The workforce investment program will screen and refer qualified applicants to the Industrial Readiness Training classes that are being offered at Southwest Tennessee Community College.
"Having the employer involved makes a difference," said Vivian Alexander, Career Center Manager." It's connecting with the individual in the room and seeing who their employees are going to be right in front of them. Then they have their selection process.
On November 12, three classes of 25 students are scheduled to begin. Those classes will end in early December.
The courses cost $1,200, but WIN will cover the fee.
You can apply today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the WIN Career Center located at 444 N. Main Street in downtown Memphis.
