(WMC-TV) – The death toll from the Fungal Meningitis outbreak in Tennessee continues to grow. Two new deaths have been reported - bringing the state death toll to eight.
There have been 61 cases reported state-wide. The Tennessee Health Department says about 75 health care facilities in the state received shipments of the contaminated medications.
Nationwide, there have been 19 deaths from the outbreak, and 247 total cases. No one has been sick in West Tennessee, Mississippi or Arkansas.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is now investigating several new products - none of which should have been used in Tenn. after October 4.
However, state leaders are still working to identify which Tenn. facilities received the newly suspect drugs.
