(WMC-TV) – Memphis police found the body of missing mom, Karen Denise Thomas, 31, in the Loosahatchie River Thursday morning. Hours later, police say her husband, 33-year-old Terrence Thomas, admitted to the murder.
According to the affidavit, Terrence Thomas was brought into the sheriff's office after Karen's body was identified. According to police, he then admitted to strangling his wife in the bedroom at their home, and then throwing her body off of the bridge on Watkins Street into the Loosahatchie River.
The 31-year-old mother of two was reported missing on October 12.
A few days later, her 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer was located abandoned in a parking lot on Summer Avenue. Police have not released information about what, if anything, was found in the vehicle.
Family members tell Action News 5 Karen Thomas and her husband were going through a divorce.
The husband is set to face a judge Monday on a first degree charge and false reporting.
