(WMC-TV) – A second attack along the Greenline at Shelby Farms surfaced just days after a 15-year-old shared his story on Action News 5.
Both victims want to know what is being done to protect park visitors.
Coltrane Duckworth said three men confronted him as he rode his bike back home from the skate park. He was injured when they shoved him to the ground before stealing his bike, wallet, and cell phone.
The day after our interview with Duckworth, another Action News 5 viewer told us his adult son was attacked in much the same manner the day before Labor Day this year.
It also happened around dusk, between Mendenhall Road and Perkins Road.
The news about these reported attacks are still not enough to scare some Greenline users.
"If I saw trouble coming, I'd go the other direction, but if it's on you all at once, there's not a lot you can do," said Steve Brown, who uses the Greenline.
There are numerous surveillance cameras up and down the path. Rangers are on patrol throughout the day.
Officials say one important thing to remember is that both Shelby Farms Park and the Greenline are only open from dawn to dusk. They suggest staying off of the trail after dark.
There have been no arrests in either attack along the Greenline and there are no detailed descriptions of the suspects.
