(WMC-TV) - Police in Marion, Arkansas are investigating after they say a student showed up to school dressed in a black trench coat armed with several knives.
Students say he had a scarf covering his face, too.
The 14-year-old is charged with aggravated assault and carrying a prohibited weapon after he reportedly walked into the cafeteria wearing a full-length black trench coat, while holding a knife in his hand.
The principal and school resource officer confronted him almost immediately. They say he was carrying three knives on him.
A piece of paper he had with him raised red flags.
"I can tell you it was not a hit list," said G.B. Martin, Marion Police Department. "The sheet of paper had some drawing on it. And I can't elaborate on what kind of drawings due to the fact that this is a juvenile."
Parents say the school did not notify them of the incident. The Marion City School District is referring all questions to the superintendent, who is out of town until Monday.
The 14-year-old was taken to juvenile hall. He is due in court first thing Monday morning.
