Some Memphis airport restaurants closing early on Saturdays

(WMC-TV) - Some restaurants are closing early at Memphis International Airport due to fewer flights and lack of passengers.

The drastic cut in flights at the airport come mostly from its hub airline, Delta Airlines.

According Memphis International Airport Executive Vice President & COO Scott Brockman, Delta Airlines dropped Saturday flights about 80 percent, from 120 flights to just 20 to 30

Delta conveyed to the airport that there was a lack of demand on Saturday activity.

As a result remote areas of the airport concourses will not have open concessions on Saturdays.

The regional facility on A and some of the B concourse restaurants will be closing.

Airport leaders insist with this drop, because there is more access and opportunity for another airline.

Mid-South groups formed to lure business and airlines to Memphis. The groups hope to help concourses and concessions fill up again not only on Saturdays but every day of the week.
