(WMC-TV) – The man who confessed to strangling his wife before tossing her body into the Loosahatchie River is being held in jail without bond.
Terrence Thomas, 33, was scheduled to appear in court Monday morning. His court date was reset to November 7.
Thomas reported his wife, Karen Denise Thomas, missing October 11. A city watch was issued for the mother of two the following Monday.
Her SUV was found abandoned in a parking lot on Summer Avenue that morning.
Exactly one week later, the body of 31-year-old mother was found floating in the Loosahatchie River. Shortly after identifying the woman as Karen Thomas, her husband was arrested for her murder.
According to police, Terrence Thomas admitted to strangling his wife at the couple's home. Police say their children were home at the time of the murder, but it is unclear if they saw or heard anything.
Thomas' attorney told Action News 5 his client will enter a 'not guilty' plea in court.
