(WMC-TV) – The man accused of killing music legend B.B. Cunningham will be in court today. And the man accused of trying to steal from Cunningham's wife, while she was attending his funeral, will also be in court.

Dock Britt, 22, is facing murder charges. He is accused of taking the life of 70-year-old B.B. Cunningham.

Police say Britt was one of two men who shot at a female security guard at an apartment complex on Cherry Road Sunday, October 14.

Cunningham was working as a security guard during the shooting, and ran after the pair. He was then shot and killed.

B.B was laid to rest this past Friday. But it was during his funeral where police say Thomas Jeffries tried to steal from his Southeast Memphis Home. When officers responded to the burglary alarm, Jeffries was exiting a back door.

He had lawn equipment and a handgun in his waistband when officers caught him.

Action News 5 will be monitoring their day in court, and we will keep you updated on wmctv.com.
