Former employee accused in Kohl's theft spree

(WMC-TV) - A woman who is accused of stealing $1,000 worth of items from multiple Mid-South Kohl's department stores is in court Monday.

According to the police report, 21-year-old Caitlin Banks of Collierville was a former employee of Kohl's.

In September, she allegedly went into a Germantown store and grabbed clothing and jewelry worth $601.

Police say she then went in the men's department and stuffed the merchandise in an oversized shoulder bag.

Banks left the store and drove out of the parking lot in a green pickup truck with a male suspect.

According to Banks' family, Jason Smith is her boyfriend. Police were able to identify him by pulling his Tennessee driver's license photo.

On Friday, investigators say the two hit another Kohl's store in Collierville and stole another $403 in clothing and jewelry.

According to the affidavit, Banks has committed an offense of theft of property of $1,000 to $10,000 dollars.

The report does not mention Smith being in custody.
