(WMC-TV) – Action News 5 is looking into a home invasion in Frayser. It happened in the 3500 block of Bigelow St. near Tulsa Ave.

According to investigators, the victim was inside of his home with family when the suspects came to his door. He opened the door, and the four suspects forced their way in.

Police say the homeowner was shot twice, once in the neck and again in the torso. He was able to return fire, killing one of the home intruders, and possibly shooting another.

The homeowner, who is believed to be around 28, then ran to a neighbors house and collapsed on the porch.

We talked with that neighbor, and he says he is now fearful for his children's safety and what is happening to young people in his community.

"They need to understand that life is really short and people here are dying every day and people need to cherish life and do what's right cause everything out here ain't cool, ain't good ," said Richard Mask, neighbor.

The homeowner is now listed in critical condition at the MED.

At this time, we know at least one of the suspects died just blocks from the scene. Also, witnesses say the victims family (his mother and brother) were not injured.

Right now, the three remaining suspects are still on the run.
