Teacher fired, charged with child enticement

(WMC-TV) – A Panola County teacher has been fired and is now charged with enticing a child.

Marion Strickland, 24, was put on leave Wednesday, after investigators brought case information to the superintendent's office.

The South Panola County Schools superintendent confirms Strickland, who was a 10th grade English teacher, was fired at noon on Friday.

This comes after charges were filed against the teacher for reportedly enticing a child with the purpose of engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

Investigators have not said whether any students were the alleged victims.

The district attorney did confirm that photographs have something to do with the charge.

Sources in Panola County say the teacher pretended to be a female to get male students to send him inappropriate pictures.

Strickland was hired in August. He remains in jail on a $500,000 bond.
