Three sentenced for producing, receiving child porn on cell phones

(WMC-TV) – Three people will spend several years in prison for using their cell phones to produce and receive child pornography.

John Vincent LaBuda, 31, pleaded guilty to one count of producing child porn. He was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison. He was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for one count of possessing child pornography. Those sentences will run concurrently.

In December 2009, LaBuda used his phone to record videos of a child under the age of 10 being forced to engage in sexually explicit conduct. The videos were found on his phone one month later.

In an unrelated case, Daryl Wayne Maness, 38, and Shannon Ann Maness, 37, both pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography. They will each spend 10 years in prison.

In 2010, the couple formed friendships with several girls ranging in age from 13 to 15. They took the girls on trips, allowed them to stay overnight, and gave them gifts like t-shirts, bathing suits, and cell phones. The cell phones were used to maintain contact with the girls.

Eventually, the couple was able to convince the girls to send them sexually explicit pictures of themselves.

When their prison sentences are complete, each person will have 15 years of supervised release. They will also need to register as sexual offenders, undergo sex offender treatment, and will not be allowed to have contact with minors. They will also be banned from accessing or possessing any pornography.
