Arkansas teen chased by police imposters

Arkansas Teen Chased By Police Imposters

ARKANSAS - (WMC-TV) – An Arkansas teen wants drivers to heed her chilling tale after being chased by police imposters on a Mid-South highway.

The 19-year-old woman was terrified.  She came face to face with the two suspects, and she almost made a possibly fatal error.

The woman is so scared she does not want to be identified.

"I just took off," the victim said. "I didn't know what to do to do. I was scared. I never had anything like that happen before."

Very early Sunday morning she was driving back to her family's home in Poinsett County. It was very dark.

"They were already right behind me, right on me. They kept following me," she said.

Two men were in a white Crown Victoria that looked like a police car. It had a spotlight and a flashing blue light on the dash.

The 19-year-old just left her boyfriend's apartment in Jonesboro. She stopped at a light and at that light she turned on her interior car lights. She thinks that's when the suspects may have seen her.

"That's when I finally made a call to my boyfriend because I was scared."

He gave her possibly life-saving advice she used when she finally pulled over on a deserted road near a cotton field: lock the doors and don't roll the window down all the way.

A man walked up to her driver's side window.

"I rolled the window down a little bit and I said 'Is there a problem?' He said, 'Yes. You need to get out of the vehicle. I said 'no.'"

"I heard someone trying to open my passenger door, Iooked over  and there was someone trying to open that," she said.

It was another man. She took off.

"If it hadn't been for my boyfriend telling me what to do I would have rolled my window all the way down and it could have ended a lot worse."

The 19-year-old says the men drove back in the direction of Jonesboro. She filed a report with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department. The Crown Victoria they were driving was an older model with dark tint on the windows.
