(WMC-TV) - An elderly woman is safe this morning thanks to the help of a good Samaritan who happened to be in the right place - at the right time.
The fire happened on Kruger Road overnight at the elderly woman's next door neighbor's house.
Firefighters say the good Samaritan, Marcus Jackson, called them after seeing smoke in the neighborhood. He then drove around the area, until he spotted the fire. He said he thought the flames were going to spread to the elderly woman's house next door.
With that in mind. he decided to coax the woman out of her house, before the blaze could get to her property. Jackson says he was able to get the woman out safety in her wheel chair - and he got her oxygen tank out too.
"I was like ma'am there's a house on fire… we gotta get you outside....she was paranoid, but we got her out," said Jackson.
No one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
