(WMC-TV) – The head of a nonprofit in Tipton County is accused of stealing thousands of dollars from the organization.
Allen Parnell Brown, 57, was arrested by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Wednesday. He was indicted on two counts of theft over $1,000 and one count of theft over $10,000.
Brown is the administrator the non-profit group known as Tipton Cares. The mission of the organization is to offer physical and spiritual assistance to people experiencing a temporary crisis.
The TBI believes Brown opened a credit card for the non-profit in his name. They also say he received a donation of a truck for Tipton Cares, but instead, gave it to a family member. A money transfer was also reportedly made from the Tipton Cares account, to an account in Brown's name, which was not approved by the organization's board of directors.
Allen Parnell Brown is being held at the Tipton County Justice Complex on a $15,000 bond.
