SOUTHAVEN, MS - (WMC-TV) – Southaven aldermen and other city officials are no longer mere observers in mayor Greg Davis's ongoing divorce case.
"I don't know of any of us who wants to get involved in a personal matter like that," said alderman Ronnie Hale. "But, apparently, we are beginning to be."
Hale said he and fellow alderman Greg Guy, along with police chief Tom Long, told lawyers under oath that Davis told them during an unrelated meeting in 2010 that he directed the city's human resources director to alter his payroll information.
"He had described there were some changes made in the way his earnings were reported," said Hale.
Davis's ex alleged in a previous court filing that he hid assets from her. She's seeking sole custody of their children and monthly support payments.
"It's a discovery phase as I understand it and they're just asking us for details," said Hale.
It's the latest twist in the Davis saga. His spending of city money has been the subject of criminal investigations and his boyfriend was sued by his former wife for allegedly ruining their marriage.
