Radio City Rockettes kick it up at Opryland

(WMC-TV) – They perform more than 26,000 kicks in a four show day. And they do it wearing more than 350 pairs of shoes. We are talking about the Radio City Rockettes, who are currently featured at Nashville's Gaylord Opryland Resort.

They are known all over the world and once again this year, the Radio City Rockettes are returning to the Grand Ole Opry House for their Christmas Spectacular.

"Just being a Rockette in general is such a tremendous thrill and honor, to be put in that legendary group of women that are celebrating 85 years this year," said Rockette Lindsay Thomas.

Lindsay Thomas and Sarah Creagan gave Action News 5 exclusive access backstage to talk more about this year's show, featuring dazzling costumes and a finale called "Christmas Dreams".

"It wouldn't be as impressive until you see all 18 of us on stage doing the exact same thing, the precision technique. You really have to be in time with the rest of the group and its amazing the support on stage," said Rockette Sarah Creagan.

This year, audiences will be completely enveloped in the Christmas spirit with a new 3D movie scene, as Santa Claus and his reindeer take audiences on a magical journey through New York City.

"You'll end up on 5th Avenue where Santa is shopping for stuff for Ms. Claus. I think the most exciting part of the show comes next when a cab drives onto the stage. I'm sitting in the cab, waving. I come out and all of the sudden, all 18 Rockettes come out of the same car. It's a fun illusion for everyone to see," said Creagan.

In addition to the 3D experience, the Grand Ole Opry stage will come alive with the dancing of the Rockettes in beloved numbers like "Parade of the Wooden Soldiers" and the stunning re-enactment of the first Christmas in the "Living Nativity ".

Gaylord Opryland's County Christmas runs now through January 1.
