Police officer charged with rape and incest

(WMC-TV) – A Memphis police officer is under arrest and accused of having inappropriate sexual contact with a member of his family. The abuse reportedly started when the girl was 16 years old.

Cornelius Monger is charged with rape, statutory rape by an authority figure, and incest.

The 33-year-old police officer was arrested Tuesday afternoon. He is being held on a $100,000 bond.

The special victims' unit was alerted to the abuse by multiple sources, including one witness and the victim.

According to the Memphis Police Department, Officer Monger is currently assigned to Old Allen Station. He has been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

Monger has been with the Memphis Police Department since July 10, 2006.
