(WMC-TV) - This week's "Your Turn" segment comes from the Action News 5 Facebook page where hundreds of people commented on the judge's ruling about the Memphis-Shelby County schools merger. Predictably, some of the comments zeroed in on racial issues and that drew this response from April Clark-Grims. In her words:
I'm not understanding the racism comments. I'm black and I live in Bartlett. I moved to Bartlett so my son could be in a better school. He was a straight A student in MCS, but he wasn't being challenged and was getting bored. He transferred to a Bartlett school and had to struggle to get adjusted to the curriculum, but is again a straight A student. Sure there may be bright spots in the Memphis school system, but from my experience, the Bartlett schools are better. And my son likes them more. How is that a racial issue?
