(RNN) - With Christmas days away, most people are looking to get into the holiday spirit any way they can - even through their smartphones and tablets.
Here are some of the Christmas apps available in Apple's iTunes Store and Google's Android market, Google Play.
Customized Christmas cards on your iPhone/iPad, mailed physically by Apple
Christmas cards are a big part of the holiday season. Customizing them is now easier than ever.
The Cards app allows you to create your own Christmas/greeting cards and tailor them with your own text and photos. Once you're done, you can have it mailed anywhere in the U.S. for $2.99 per card (including postage). Apple will notify you the day it's delivered.
You can also make and mail thank you, get well, birthday, Mother's Day and other cards.
The Cards app is available in the iTunes Store for free.
Christmas, Charlie Brown style
Cartoon classic Charlie Brown and the Peanuts go back decades, but you can enjoy them on your iPhone or iPad this Christmas season.
The app, called A Charlie Brown Christmas, features the original dialogue and soundtrack from the show, including narration by the voice of Charlie Brown, Peter Robbins. You can also decorate the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree.
The app is educational for younger users. You can highlight words and have them individually spoken with a tap of the finger. You're also able to play the show's soundtrack via a keyboard in the app that helps you learn musical notes.
The app is available in the iTunes Store for $4.99.
Games, games and more games
The holiday season is a great time to relax and wind down with family. Start off the season right by playing a bunch of classic games in a Christmas setting.
The Santa's Christmas Village app contains fun games like mahjong, checkers, Sudoku and solitaire that you can enjoy while Christmas music plays in the background. The app is set up so that you travel through Santa's Village for the different games.
Santa's Christmas Village is $1.99 on the iTunes Store.
25 Christmas apps in one
If you've got a lot of time on your hands, or if one app doesn't satisfy your need, check out the Advent 2012 app. Like an Advent calendar, every day from Dec. 1 to Dec. 25 opens a door to a new present - in this case, you get one new Christmas game app each day.
The creators of the app said they have "handpicked some of the greatest apps on the App Store, and we're giving them to you as wonderful Christmas gifts."
Will some of the Christmas apps mentioned in this article appear among that list? Only time will tell.
Advent 2012 is available in both the iTunes Store and Google Play for free.
Track Santa's progress
Want to know how close Santa is to your house? With the Santa Tracker Christmas app, you can see what part of the world he is flying over.
The app also includes Santa's blog, a countdown to Christmas Day and the ability to send a letter to Santa.
Santa Tracker Christmas is available in the Google Play store for $1.99.
Make your phone festive
Holiday-themed game apps are great, but what if you just want to decorate your phone's background? Maybe the 3D Christmas Live Wallpaper app is what you need.
It gives you a 3D live wallpaper of a Christmas tree that you can view at any angle. It also includes a countdown to Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
3D Christmas Live Wallpaper comes in a free version and a full version. The full version includes multiple color schemes, 3D fireworks, animation fly-bys and more performance options.
The app is available in Google Play. The full version costs $1.49.
