Thousands audition for 'America's Got Talent'

(WMC-TV) – We all know by now that America's got some talent... and thousands of mid-southerners think they do, too. From the zany to the traditional, the Cook Convention Center was filled with people hoping for a chance at stardom.

Performers lined the halls waiting and practicing the routines they planned to perform in an effort to get on the hit NBC show "America's Got Talent".

The Tip Top Tappers, of Jackson, Tennessee, was just one group waiting in line.

"We are hopeful, yes, but realistically hopeful," said Eileen Leonard, Tip Top Tappers.

They were actually scouted by the show when producers randomly saw their YouTube video.

"We see people do weird things with their hands and their bodies, we see lots of stuff and it excites us," said America's Got Talent Executive Producer Jason Raff.

With plenty of singers, it was the unforgettable that really stands out… or the weird… or the really young.

Show producers will be at the convention center until 8 p.m. auditioning hopefuls. If you missed the Memphis audition, auditions will also be held in Nashville on Thursday.
