(WMC-TV) – It is not too late to lend a helping hand to kids in need this holiday season.
A local Wal-Mart will host a toy and bike shopping spree for underprivileged children. But first, they must collect items for the children. The drive will start Wednesday, December 19 and end Saturday, December 22.
The items will be donated to children at The Neighborhood Christian Center, Samelson, and John Buckman Boys and Girls Club. At this time, The Neighborhood Christian center still has around 800 kids that are in need this season.
The drive will be held at the Wal-Mart located at 577 N. Germantown Parkway. It will start at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. each day.
This drive comes at a time when many need it most.
"Many of our parents aren't in a position to purchase toys and bikes for their children," said Tyrone Drakeford, Director of the John Buckman Boys & Girls Club. "Thanks to Wal-Mart, we are hoping to surprise kids from ages 6 to 13."
And with the help of a few Mid-Southerners, hopefully a difference can be made.
