(WMC-TV) – There may still be five days until Christmas, but the holiday came early for some patients at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital.
A few Memphis Grizzlies made a surprise visit to the hospital bearing gifts.
With the help of their all-women's charity group, the Lady Bears, players walked the hallways pushing carts filled with games, books, and even some basketballs.
Little Kayla is being treated for a head injury and was excited to see special visitors.
"It's just a blessing to see people that you don't know trying to help people who have been through a lot," said Kayla's mom.
Kayla is expected to make a full recovery and she someday hopes to give back to her community in her own way – by becoming a police officer.
"It's Christmastime. It's a great time of sharing, you know, having fun and loving and for us to, you know, be able to come here and give gifts to the kids, it's a good feeling, it's a great opportunity," said Tony Wroten, Memphis Grizzlies.
The delivery made to Le Bonheur Children's Hospital was part of the "Memphis Grizzlies Season of Giving".
Throughout the month of December, players, coaches, and staff members will continue to host events to spread cheer around the Bluff City.
