12 Strays of Christmas: Meet Belladonna

(WMC-TV) – Have you thought this season about opening up your heart and your home to a sweet animal in need?

This year, we introduce to you "The 12 Strays of Christmas".

Action News 5 is partnering with the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County to share with you 12 animals in need of homes this holiday season. We will introduce you to a new pet each day through December 22. And each pet featured in the "12 Strays of Christmas" comes with a very special adoption fee of just $12.

Meet Belladonna

Belladonna is a darling 3-year-old white bull terrier mix who weighs about 50 pounds.

She is a wiggle worm who doesn't just wag her tail but her whole body when she is happy, and that is just about all the time!

She loves having kennel mates and always seems to do well with other dogs, and she even seems to enjoy cats. She loves toys (especially squeaky toys) and loves to run and play; she has a lot of energy and would probably love to be your running buddy.

She looks like an angel after all the walks are over for the night and she is curled up with her kennel mate, asleep on their bed. But she doesn't just look like an angel, she acts like one too! When her former kennel mate, Sinatra, got lost from his adoptive home, she went out with the rest of the search team to help look for him! She just loves everyone and everyone loves her.

If you are interested in making Belladonna the newest member of your family, contact the Humane Society of Memphis & Shelby County at 901-937-3900.

The $12 adoption fee for Belladonna includes the following:

  • Spay/neuter surgery
  • Rabies vaccination
  • Age appropriate vaccines
  • De-worming treatments
  • Heartworm testing (dogs only)
  • FIV/Leukemia testing (cats only)
  • Microchip for permanent identification
  • Humane Society ID tag
  • Follow up calls with our Adoption Counselors to make sure your new pet is adjusting well
  • A goodie bag with coupons and some toys

The man in red likes to take things - a mower and weed eater from one home, change and a cell phone from someone's unlocked truck, even a little red wagon, and a 2-year-old's lunch box. Neighbors said the thief wears all red and a home surveillance camera caught him as he peered into 2-year-old Willia's backyard where she stored her little red wagon.
