Funeral home remembers Sandy Hook shooting victims

(WMC-TV) – Mid-Southerners paid tribute to the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting Friday.

A remembrance ceremony was held at Forest Hill Funeral Home in Memphis.

General Manager Todd Van Beck said people often have trouble putting into words their emotions.

He added that a simple ceremony was the least they could do to honor the victims.

"We felt the need to use ritual and ceremony to help embrace this tremendous tragedy that the country has sustained," said Van Beck.

In attendance was Mayor A C Wharton and several members of the community.

People are encouraged to stop by all three Forest Hill Funeral Home locations and sign their name in books that will be sent to Connecticut.
