Rain, sunshine & cold temps, benefit concert for fallen officer, meet the grizzlies today, Stormin' Norman passes

Good morning and welcome to another Friday!! Winter is officially one week old but it has already made its presence known. It's raining in parts of the Mid-South but that's it...no snow or ice in the area...temps are above freezing...Ron has a look to the weekend and that may include sunshine and cold temps. He's breaking down what you can expect for the next few days and your new years eve celebration!!

There is a benefit concert for a fallen officer's family...Memphis Police officer Martoiya Lang died in the line of duty...and this benefit will raise money for her four daughters she left behind. Details on the benefit this morning on WMC-TV5.

We're also talking about Memphis Grizzlies coach Lionel Hollins and some of his players bagging groceries and signing autographs today in an effort to raise money for Lebonheur Children's Hospital. Details on where you can catch them today on WMC-TV5.

The country knew him as "Stormin Norman." Last night General Norman Schwarzkopf... famous during the first gulf war in the nineties... has died at the age of 78 in Tampa.We'll look back at his life and legacy.

And a drought has made the mighty Mississippi River dangerously narrow and shallow, as it approaches record-low levels. Tug boat pilots say rocks have started appearing in the river, making piloting hazardous. We'll explain the issue and the problems associated with it.
