HOLLY SPRINGS, MS - (WMC-TV) – Action News 5 has learned of a second road rage shooting this week in the Mid-South, this time in Holly Springs, Mississippi.  And this one happened the same night a baby was almost grazed by bullets.

The victim in that possible road rage shooting is expected to be released tomorrow. It's the second shooting on Mid-South roads this week.

Shattered glass and bullet holes cover this black Lexus that was on a wild ride on Monday.

"Probably hit him in the shoulder," Holly Springs Police Chief William Hollowell said. "The victim seems to think it may have been road rage."

A man in his 30's is recovering at the MED after Police Chief William Hollowell says his car was shot into several times while driving on highway 78. It's the same day Memphis Police investigated a possible road rage shooting that almost injured a baby.

"He commuted from this area back to Memphis every day," Chief Hollowell said.

The victim told police he was shot near mile marker 26 outside Holly Springs, but he kept driving an extra 12 miles before pulling over near the Byhalia exit to get help.

Ericka Jones was working in the back of the convenience store when the victim walked in bleeding.

"We thought he was a customer," she said. "He asked to use the phone to call the police. Said he had got shot on the highway."

Investigators plan to interview the shooting victim on Thursday to figure out who may have been after him, and why.

"Quite out of the ordinary we're just trying to figure out what happened," said Chief Hollowell.

Police aren't sure how the victim made it 12 miles, or why he didn't stop sooner, but Jones is just glad the ending wasn't much worse.

"It's kinda strange. People are scared now because crime been going on lately. But he's fine. I thank God he's fine," Ericka Jones said.

The victim was only able to tell police that the shooter was in a dark colored SUV that was traveling towards Memphis on Highway 78.
