(WMC-TV) - A woman, who was minding her own business, was shot and killed in her own driveway after unloading groceries.

The shooting happened on the 2100 block of Burnham Cove Friday morning.

Witnesses on the scene say the 62-year-old woman had just unloaded some groceries with a relative when she was hit by a stray bullet.

"She was just getting out of her truck and got shot," said neighbor Nathaniel Calhoun. "This wasn't aimed at her. She was just an innocent bystander."

Investigators say an argument broke out on Burnham Cove and someone fired a gun. The stray bullet hit the woman, who was not involved in the argument. The people who were arguing then left.

When police arrived, they found the woman lying on the ground next to her car.

Investigators are now searching for two or three people who were involved in the argument and shooting.

"We've had a kilo unit out here along with aviation," said Lt. Col. Howell Starnes, Memphis Police Department. "We've canvassed the neighborhood, not only on this street, but two, three streets from here."

From one block away, neighbor Lillie Riley walked over for a view of the scene. She stopped at the yellow crime scene tape and prayed.

"I asked God to, uh, put it on the heart of whoever did that, to give themselves up because it's not right," said Riley.

Neighbors say the woman who was shot owned the home, but it was her brother who was living there.

Police have not released the woman's identity yet.
