Woman found dead in burned house

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) - A Lauderdale County woman was found dead in a home that burned Saturday morning.

Now her family is desperate for answers.

Early morning fire ripped through the house on Larkwood Avenue in Ripley, Tenn.

The fire department, police, and the state bomb and arson squad were all at the scene investigating the case.

Family members identify the victim as Tameka Muex.

They believe she was murdered, the fire set intentionally to cover it up.

They describe Muex as a fantastic cook, an even better person, and the mother of four children.

It's a grieving family that wants to know how and why Muex died, because they said she certainly didn't deserve it.

"Any person that met her - loved her, to hang around her. She was a nice mother to her kids, loving mother. Anything you wanted, she had it. If it was up there she would give it to you," said sister Marquita Muex.

Investigators said the body has been sent for autopsy.

No arrests have been made at this point.

"She was a peacemaker. She was very happy. Fun person to be around," said cousin Tracey Muex.

Tameka's four children lived with her in the house that burned.

They lost everything.

The family is in the process of setting up a fund to help replace the essentials.
