YOUR TURN: Nathan Bedford Forrest Park

(WMC-TV) - Dozens of people have taken to the Action News 5 Facebook page to voice their opinions about Nathan Bedford Forrest Park in Memphis. The City of Memphis recently removed a granite marker from the park that had been donated by the Sons of Confederate Veterans. That action was followed up by a suggestion from a Memphis City Councilman to honor civil rights activist Ida B. Wells at the same park and rename the park Ida B. Wells-Forrest Park. That idea doesn't sit well with many of the people who wrote to us including Gregory Campbell. In his words:

Whether you like it or not, Nathan Bedford Forrest is a part of history. Naming the park "Wells-Forrest Park" would be like renaming Kennedy Airport in New York "Kennedy-Oswald Airport."

That's Gregory Campbell's turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment or anything else, email yourturn@wmctv.com or call 800-465-1210.
