Southaven developer pleads guilty to bank fraud

(WMC-TV) - A Southaven developer who has been linked to Mayor Greg Davis pleaded guilty to bank fraud in court Thursday.

Chuck Roberts walked out of federal court without commenting on the plea agreement.

In the document detailing the plea agreement, it makes no mention of Mayor Greg Davis, however, the two have been linked in questionable business transactions in the past.

Court documents reveal that in 2008, Roberts made false statements and reports to Citizens National Bank in connection with a $5 million loan for RH Holdings, an entity with former partner Jamie Harris.

Harris pleaded not guilty to a similar charge Wednesday.

According to records, the loan was for the construction and development of the Cherry Hill subdivision in Southaven. Roberts would allegedly submit fake invoices to draw money from the loan.

A grand jury accuses Harris' M & H Construction company of submitting invoices to RH holdings to build a box culvert near Cherry Hill, but it was later determined the City of Southaven had already made the purchase through M & H Construction.

Roberts should expect sentencing in the next couple of months. He faces a maximum of 30 years in prison and a $1 million fine.

Harris is expected in federal court in Aberdeen, MS in March.
