HUMPHREYS COUNTY, TN -

(WSMV) - Interstate 40 westbound closed down for more than six hours Saturday after a woman was found dead in the median.

According to investigators, a trucker saw the woman's body around 6:30 a.m. on I-40 near mile marker 137.

At this time, it's unclear how the woman died.

Tennessee Highway Patrol officials said the woman was from Nashville, but her identity has not been released yet.

State troopers were still working to contact the victim's family.

State troopers said the woman's car had apparently broken down at some point and the woman left the vehicle.

However, it was still not clear what led up to the woman's remains being found in the median.

Investigators said parts from a vehicle were found near her body, but it was not clear whether she had been struck by a vehicle.

This is a developing story, this story will be updated with more information as it is received.
