Corinth principal fired after suspension

(WMC-TV) - The principal at Alcorn Central Middle School has been fired. This comes after he was suspended earlier this week.

There are still more questions than answers when it comes to the principal's firing. Dan Burcham was fired after an investigation into a complaint, but attorneys for the school will not disclose the exact reason.

"The school district conducted an investigation and the principal in question was terminated for cause effective last Wednesday, and that's about all I can tell you," said School District Attorney Jimmy Price.

When asked if the termination was related to the complaint, Price responded, "Yes it was."

He would not give anymore information about the nature of that complaint.

Alcorn School District parents are concerned about the firing and they are calling and e-mailing the Action News 5 newsroom with their questions.

When asked if the complaint was criminal, Price referred Action News 5 to the district attorney. But the DA and the sheriff both say they are not involved in an investigation. Price said that law enforcement was made aware of the complaint.

Burcham has not been charged with a crime.

Action News 5's Michael Clark called the phone number listed for Burcham. The man who answered identified himself as Burcham's father, but said he had nothing to say and would not take down Clark's number to return the call.
