MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - You may have thought door-to-door solicitations were done. But, not so fast. Those solicitations are picking up, especially with a certain segment of contractors.

It is a raw deal when a roofer knocks on your door, leaves a pamphlet, and then locks you into a contract.

When you sign that contract, you lose all recourse.

"You guaranteed them the ability to come out and rob you," said insurance agent Bennita Wade.

Action News 5's Chief Consumer Investigator Andy Wise is investigating the solicitations, the door knockers, and he will prepare you for the next time you hear your doorbell ring.

Tune into the investigative report Wednesday on Action News 5 at 10 p.m.
