3.6 magnitude earthquake shakes northeast Arkansas

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A 3.6 magnitude earthquake shook northeast Arkansas Saturday afternoon.

The United States Geological Survey centered the earthquake just southwest of Trumann, Arkansas. There are no reports of damage or injuries.

The initial summary from the USGS listed the quake as a 3.9 magnitude.  However, the organization lowered the intensity to a 3.6 after further examination.

There are reports of the tremor being felt across Poinsett, Mississippi and Craighead Counties.

The area lies along the New Madrid Fault Zone known for hundreds of small earthquakes each year.
