Reports: Shooting at West Memphis High School

(WMC-TV) - West Memphis police responded to reports of a shooting at West Memphis High School Saturday night.

Neighbors heard gunshots between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. They said a group of young men jumped into a dark colored SUV after the shooting.

Police aren't saying much right now, only that there was a shooting at the school

Lerry Reese was at the high school for a Black History month event during the shooting. He said there was a fight involving four to five people, and that it was gang related. According to Reese, one person pulled out a pistol and shot a man in the leg.

Police aren't confirming whether anyone was injured.

"It's scary to have this happen at a high school event. It really worries me I have a brother that attends school here. This shouldn't be happening at a high school. Especially for a Black History month event," said Reese.

Neighbors said after the shooting the school was a very active scene with patrol cars, an ambulance, and fire truck.

This story will be updated with more information as it is received.
