Car crashes into bedroom with mother, children inside

(WMC-TV) - A mother along with her two-year-old daughter and other family members had a startling awakening Sunday morning as a car came crashing into their home.

According to Memphis police, a black car crashed into a bedroom wall. The crash caused the wall to fall on top of Sandra Ogunleye's daughter who was asleep on her bed. Ogunleye's niece was asleep on a pallet on the floor.

"That vroom vroom vroom was coming from a car that crashed into the bedroom of an apartment on Vista Road, where she, little Taylor and her aunt were sleeping," said nine-year-old Tashuna Castle.

Ogunleye found her two-year-old's face covered in soot. A portion of the wall fell on top of Castle on the floor covering her with wood and glass.

The mother got up and started banging the car, then the car took off. The car had backed into the bedroom.

"I was beating on the car trying to get the lady to pull off so I could get my sister and her daughter from under the car," said Ogunleye.

The two children were transported to Le Bonheur in non-critical condition, and were released Sunday afternoon.

As of right now there is not an available apartment for the victims. The apartment manager had the wall boarded up, but cold air is constantly blowing in.

Witnesses and victims are unsure whether this crash was intentional or not.

Police aren't certain of the make and model of the car. It's most likely either a Toyota or Honda Civic.

If you have any information about the driver call Crimestoppers at 901-528 CASH.
