Tree falls on family's new home

(WMC-TV) - A large tree fell on a house on Hodges Street around 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.

The family, which consists of two adults and several young children, had just moved into the home on Monday.

Brown says they were busy getting ready for work and school when the tree fell.

"The kids started hollering and crying. We get to ripping and running. We were in there running like little roaches. I didn't know which way to go. We were just running," said Lashondra Brown, who lived in the home.

She continued, "I just moved in here yesterday. Done put my hard time and work. Done put my down for the deposit, light bill, now look at this."

Nobody was injured when the tree fell but serious damage was done to the home.

The family is now living with relatives.
