Shooting puts nearby school on lockdown, sends three to MED

(WMC-TV) - Three people were shot, and for the second time in a month a shooting caused a school to go on lockdown as a precaution causing upset neighbors and small children.

The multiple shooting happened around noon Friday near Perese Avenue and Standridge Street.

Neighbors said the "Stanridge Street Posse" and another street exchanged some threats on Facebook which somehow lead to Friday's violence.

Sabrina Starks has lived on Standridge Street for more than 26 years.

"We're all family, even from this end of the street to that end of the street, everyone is always family," said Starks.

Friday she came home to her find her street blocked off and surrounded by police.

Now she is considering how close she is with her neighbors.

"I don't know where the hatred of the animosity comes from," said Starks.

She said she thinks it all stemmed from an argument on Facebook between the "Standridge Street Posse" and another street.

"Threats, like 'When I see you I'm going get you,'" she said.

Police said three people were shot, with one critically injured. All victims were sent to The MED. This prompted Hollywood Success Academy to go on lockdown as a precaution, according to Memphis Police.

Earlier in the afternoon, police surrounded a vacant house north of the shooting scene. Police believed the suspects or suspect were inside, but they did not find anyone barricaded in any house.

Bishop Jonathon Prince heard the sirens, and knew where they were headed.

"It's very frustrating I just wish they could do more, like roundups drug sweeps," said Prince.

Starks agreed and said there are too many young children and schools nearby.

"A child could have got shot or hurt. Anything could of happened," she said. "I think it's just all ignorance, whatever it is I hope they can just cut it out and overcome their differences."

Neighbors do not believe the shooting is gang related, and said these two groups had a disagreement.

Police are still investigating, and no arrests have been made.
