Cordova rapist sentenced to 178 years

(WMC-TV) - The man arrested for a series of rapes in Cordova pleaded guilty in court and was sentenced Tuesday.

Anthony Alliano, who was 41 at the time of his arrest, confessed to rape of a child, multiple aggravated rapes, aggravated robberies, sexual battery, and more. He was sentenced to a total of 178 years in prison.

Police asked the public for help identifying Alliano after he was caught on surveillance cameras using one of his victim's credit cards. The victim positively identified him in a lineup.

In court, he was ordered to submit to a blood test.

DNA evidence ended up connecting him to a least six other sexual assaults. The string of assaults began in 2003.
