Sheriff: Rash of burglaries solved, suspects caught red-handed

(WMC-TV) - Two men from Memphis are facing charges in connection with a rash of burglaries in Tipton County.

According to the sheriff's office, Triston Siggers and Eric Williamson were caught red-handed with several stolen items including a lawnmower, four-wheeler, weed eater, and a leaf blower.

The two men were pulled over towing a trailer with a truck on Highway 51.

"Deputy Brandon Shelton was vigilant while he was on patrol resulting in spotting the vehicle matching the description of the burglary suspects. It was great police work; citizens had called in suspicious vehicles during the recent months," said Sheriff J.T. ‘Pancho' Chumley in a written statement.

Deputies were able to figure out that the items being towed had been stolen from a home on Poe Road, even though the theft had not been reported yet.

While investigating, deputies were able to connect Siggers and Williamson to several other burglaries and attempted burglaries in at least three different areas in Tipton County.

Siggers is charged with burglary, two counts of aggravated burglary, two counts of attempted aggravated burglary, and three counts of property theft.

Williamson is charged with aggravated burglary, attempted aggravated burglary, burglary, theft of property, and introduction of contraband into a penal institution and light law violation.

Both men are free on bond and are due back in court on May 14 at 9 a.m.
