Police: 'Parking War' leads to pistol-whipping

(WMC-TV) - A woman is accused of packing heat and using it in a heated parking dispute.

"Doesn't surprise me. In Memphis, I believe anything," said Luther Power who was driving around downtown for a parking spot Thursday.

On Wednesday, where the river loop trolley intersects Court Avenue is where some called it a parking war – complete with a loaded gun.

Sharon Bell's bond is $15,000. She is locked up on an aggravated assault charge.

Police said she used her loaded handgun to beat another woman in the face and head, leaving cuts and bruises on her nose and eyebrow.

According to an affidavit of complaint, the violence escalated from a disagreement over the alleged victim's parking.

So while searching for a spot downtown may challenge one's patience, a pistol-whipping over parking just is not worth the headache.

Sharon Bell's listed address is in Georgia. She's due back in court in one week.
