(WMC-TV) - The mother of accused kidnapper and murderer Adam Mayes was recently hospitalized.

Sources close to the Mayes case said that Mary Mayes, who is the mother of Adam Mayes, has been in the hospital within the past few weeks for heart trouble.

They said she is now out of the hospital, and back in the Hardeman County Jail.

Earlier in April, a Hardeman County judge delayed the trial dates for Mary Mayes and Teresa Mayes. That judge said a new trial date was needed because he had not received critical evidence from U.S. Marshals.

Teresa Mayes' lawyer made the same request for the same reason claiming the prosecution could not go to trial because of "the failure of the U.S. government."

The Mayes are accused in the April 2012 kidnapping of two young girls in Whiteville, TN.

The girls' mom and sister were killed.

Teresa Mayes' husband Adam killed himself as police closed in. Mary Mayes' trial date is set for September 9. Teresa Mayes trial date is set for September 16.
