FBI continues investigation into Tupelo man possibly connected to ricin attacks

(WMC-TV) – Federal investigators continue to investigate a North Mississippi man possibly connected to a string of ricin attacks.

The FBI started searching James Everett Dutschke's Taekwondo studio Wednesday. Tuesday, they searched his Tupelo house.  In the past few months Dutschke has had a couple of other brushes with the law.

"I'm very eager to clear my name," James Everett Dutschke said in January, in Tupelo, Mississippi dressed in prison garb talking to the media after his arrest for child molestation.

"This small mole hill has been blown way out of proportion," he said.

But concerned neighbors say otherwise.

"In our neighborhood he has been exposing himself to the young girls using a laser light, getting there attention, then exposing himself," neighbor Dennis Carlock said.

In February, Dutschke was convicted of indecent exposure and sentenced to 90 days behind bars. That case is on appeal.

Tuesday, Dutschke was again talking to the media while FBI agents and other investigators searched his Tupelo home in connection with ricin laced letters.

"There's nothing related to the letters," he claimed. "No, I don't have…there's nothing there."

Those letters were sent to President Barack Obama, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi and Tupelo Judge Sadie Holland. Investigators searched Dutschke's Taekwondo studio in Tupelo Wednesday.

In 2007 Dutschke ran unsuccessfully for the Mississippi house against Holland's son Steve who won the race.

There are photos of Dutschke with Senator Roger Wicker at the Lincoln Memorial.

Dutschke said he is a patriotic American and he has no grudges against anyone.

Dustchke's child molestation case is making its way through the court system. The FBI has not commented about its search of Dutschke's properties. Action News 5 will keep you updated.
