Bed ridden twins die in house fire

(WMC-TV) - A house fire claimed two lives in Fayette County. Two 47-year-old women, who were twins, had lived together all their lives until they were tragically killed by fire.

The fire began this afternoon at a home located at 175 Rodeo Road in Rossville.

The twin sisters were trapped inside, both disabled, and unable to get out of bed.

Relatives who were at the scene are devastated.

"Words can't express how I feel right now because I'm the big brother," said Rodney Hathaway. "And they were my sisters, they were twins."

He continued, "I mean, they were handicapped. Bed ridden. And they couldn't anything for themselves."

"Sweetest people you could ever meet, they were just precious smiled all the time," said cousin Cathy Taylor.

Ray Garcia with the Fayette County Sheriff's office said the cause of the fire did not appear suspicious, but state fire marshals are investigating.
